What is Pastebin?

Pastebin lets you share code or text through a clean link instead of pasting walls of text into chat. Paste your snippet here, optionally set a title, expiration date, and password, and za.gl generates a short link you can drop anywhere.

  • Lives in the same za.gl account as your short links
  • Free with no signup required
  • Perfect for logs, config files, error messages, code reviews, and long notes

Syntax highlighting

From clipboard to shareable link, in three steps

  1. 1

    Paste the text

Up to 500,000 characters go in: a stack trace, a config file, a SQL dump, a page of notes. Nothing is stored until you press the button.

  2. 2

    Language, password, expiry

Pick one of 18 languages so the syntax colours correctly. Add a password of 4 to 100 characters if it should stay private, and an expiry date if it should not outlive the conversation.

  3. 3

    Share the link

You get a za.gl link straight back, plus a token that lets you edit or delete the paste later. No sign-up, no email, no confirmation step.

What people actually use it for

Sending a stack trace

Chat apps eat indentation and cut long errors in half. A paste keeps the trace intact and hands the other person a link they can reopen tomorrow.

A config review before a deploy

Share the nginx block or the YAML, set it to expire tonight, and it is gone before anyone bookmarks the wrong version.

Answering on a forum

Some forums mangle code blocks. One link keeps the snippet formatted and lets you fix a typo later without editing the post.

Long notes instead of a long email

Meeting notes, a draft, a list of links. Send one short link instead of a wall of text nobody scrolls to the end of.

Up to 500,000 characters, roughly 500 KB of plain text. That covers most log files and single source files. Above it, split the content into two pastes.

Eighteen: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, JSON, Bash, SQL, HTML/XML, CSS, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Ruby, C, C++, C#, YAML and Markdown. Anything else is stored and displayed as plain text.

Yes. Every paste counts views, with country and referrer, the same way short links do. You reach the numbers from the dashboard with the token you were given.

Yes, with the token handed back when you created it. Editing replaces the content behind the same link, deleting removes it and the link stops opening.

No. Paste URLs are disallowed in robots.txt, so a paste is reachable through its link, not through search. If you need a real lock rather than obscurity, add a password.

The rest of the toolbox

Paste something and see

No account, no card, no limit on how many pastes you create. If it does not fit in a message, it fits here.
